Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Scan News app provided by NextMining ("we", "us"). By using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, stop using the app.
1. The service
Scan News helps you learn English through external webpages, dictionary lookups, saved vocabulary and bookmarks, and optional account-based reading history. Features and sign-in options differ by platform and version and may change. Previous video/audio features are not offered in the current release.
2. Accounts and acceptable use
Provide accurate account information and protect your credentials. Do not access another person's account, bypass access controls, interfere with the service, or use the app unlawfully. Contact us if you suspect unauthorized account access. A separately registered account does not automatically inherit another account's saved data; contact support about account migration.
3. App and third-party content
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app in accordance with these terms. Articles, websites, dictionary entries, images and other third-party content remain subject to their owners' rights and the relevant provider's terms. Linking to a page, saving a bookmark, or recording a visit does not grant permission to copy or redistribute that content or bypass a paywall.
External sites and services may change or become unavailable, and we do not control their accuracy, availability, or privacy practices. Older versions that provide YouTube features use YouTube API Services and are subject to YouTube Terms of Service (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms).
4. Your saved information and reading history
You retain any rights you have in information you submit. You grant us permission to store, process, and display it to you as needed to operate the features you request, synchronize your account, provide support, and maintain the service. Saving vocabulary, bookmarks, or reading history does not grant us a general right to publish those private records to other users.
Reading history is optional and off by default. If you enable it, qualifying visits and learning-activity summaries are stored as explained in our Privacy Policy. Reading history is limited to up to 90 days per visit and 100 pages per account. The home screen can show a shorter period. Scroll ratios are approximate positions, not proof of completion, and exact position restoration is not guaranteed. Marking a page as read hides it from the reading-in-progress list; use deletion controls to remove its stored history.
5. Deletion and ending use
You may stop using the app and delete your account in Settings, or request deletion by emailing nextmining@gmail.com. We may need to verify account ownership for a support request. Account deletion removes active account and associated saved learning records as described in the Privacy Policy; purchase transaction records are retained separately and profile-image cleanup may finish afterward. Deletion cannot be undone through the app. Turning reading history off stops new history storage but does not itself delete existing records.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms, unlawful use, or conduct that harms the service or other users. These terms do not authorize indefinite retention of all deleted learning content; data handling and any retention exceptions are described in the Privacy Policy.
6. Security
We take measures to protect the service and account information, but cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur. Protect your credentials and notify us promptly of a suspected compromise. Do not send passwords or authentication tokens to support.
7. Availability and educational information
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", to the extent permitted by applicable law. Dictionary results, external content, activity counts, and reading positions may contain errors. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or particular learning outcomes. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Changes and privacy
We may update the service and these terms. We will post revised terms with an updated date and provide additional notice where required by law. Personal information is handled under our Privacy Policy, and any consent required for data collection is separate from acceptance of these terms.
